Tchaka

Chaka ou Tchaka
(1787 - 1828) roi zoulou. Il fonda la nation zouloue en 1816-1818. S'appuyant sur une armée réorganisée, il se rendit maître du KwaZulu actuel. Il fut assassiné par son frère Dingaan. Symbole de l'indépendance de l'Afrique (bien que ce fût Dingaan qui affronta les colonisateurs) et de son unité, son action donna lieu à de multiples récits épiques et à des oeuvres modernes.
